ADVENT WITH CHILDREN by Candice Duffy

Day 13
Bethlehem
Today we read Luke 2:1-7. Jesus was born in Bethlehem which means "house of bread." We talked about how Jesus refers to himself as the "bread of life" in John 6:35. I challenged my children to think of what bread does for us and how Jesus is like bread in our lives. They really surprised me with their answers and their ability to relate those things to Jesus. Bread gives us nourishment, it fills us up, and it is good for us were a few of the things my children mentioned. We made a Bethlehem town out of an egg carton to remind us of Jesus' birthplace and the meaning the town's name held.
