DISCOVERING YOUR STYLE by Stacy McSpadden

So where did this Christmas tree come from?

With Christmas a little over a week away, I am sure that most of us have decked our halls with all of our Christmas decor.  Whether your Christmas tree is totally decked out with coordinated ornaments and ribbons or the kind like my family always enjoys, which is covered limb to limb with those ornaments that bring back all kinds of memories, the tree is the centerpiece of our holiday celebrations.  The question is, where did this icon of joyful spirit originate?  I mean, if you look at most Nativity scenes, there isn't a fancy tree in the corner of the stable.

Well, my co-designer, Lana Zepponi, at Chestnut Hall recently did her research on the origin of the Christmas tree.  I want to share a link to Lana's blog post that she wrote this week.  I think you will find the meanings very interesting.

But in all of the insanity of the holiday season, let us not forget that Christmas is not about a tree or gifts or food or even family get-togethers.  It is about our Lord's birth.  As you sit and enjoy the majesty of these upcoming days, savor them the way Mary did..."But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart." Luke 2:19

In Him,

Stacy
