Criticism tears down rather than builds up.
Well-meaning parents, including me, have at one time or another criticized their child. It especially breaks my heart when I hear someone criticize a young child after they pray. Have you ever heard someone say to a child, "You are supposed to close your eyes when you pray" or "You didn't put your hands together" or "God doesn't need to hear about your doll!" Well, I have! We should rejoice when our children talk to God like they are best friends. Let's not discourage them! We should teach them that what is important to them is important to God! We should let them talk to God about anything they want. When it comes from the heart, it is always appropriate.
