WORD FOR THE WEEK

A little background for this verse:

The Children of Israel had left Egypt and were at a dead end! The Red Sea was in front of them, and Pharaoh's army was behind them. They had nowhere to go. They began complaining to Moses, "Weren't the cemeteries large enough in Egypt so that you had to take us out here in the wilderness to die...?" (Exodus 14:11 msg) But Moses told them, "...God will fight the battle for you. And you? You keep your mouths shut!" (Exodus 14:14 msg)

And, of course, you know the story. The Children of Israel walked through on dry ground, and Pharaoh's army was drowned in the depths of the sea. Chapter 14 ends with the Children of Israel realizing God's tremendous power, being in awe before Him, and trusting in Him. And Chapter 15 opens with everyone singing a praise song to God.

Our challenge this week is to keep our mouths shut when we're tempted to complain about our circumstances, wait expectantly for God to act on our behalf, and then praise Him out loud when He does.
