Summertime is always very busy with bridal showers, bridesmaids luncheons, anniversaries, and a number of other social events. We always like a new recipe for punch. It seems in the very hot weather, guests tend to drink more than eat the goodies. This is Ashley Bennett Bledsoe's recipe. (She is the daughter of Mary Bennett, SBEC grade school secretary.) I think this is one of the best punches I have had in a long time.
8 cups water
2 cups sugar
1 large can of pineapple juice
1 package of strawberry Kool-aid (no sweetener added)
1 package of pink lemonade Kool-aid (no sweetener added)
1 - 2 liter Sprite, Diet or regular
Mix all ingredients, except the Sprite, together in a large bowl.
Pour half in a gallon zip lock bag and the other half in a second gallon zip lock bag.
Lay flat and put in the freezer ( I usually make it a few days before I want to serve it).
When you are ready to serve, thaw it just a little bit so that it's slushy.
Pour the Sprite over the punch in a punch bowl and serve.
***If you want to use the Kool-aid package that comes with sugar or Splenda, taste test, because you would not want to use the full 2 cups of added sugar.
